Traveling to Grenada

Grenada

How To Get To Grenada

To get to Grenada, there are some documents you need beforehand. All visitors need a valid passport and return ticket. It will be handy to also have photographic proof of citizenship and a passport to enter and re-enter the country you are traveling from. A visa is no required for most countries.

Grenada utilizes the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD), therefore you will need to exchange your current currency with the one this country uses. As a reference, EC$1 equals USD$0.37.

You can get a flight to Grenada from most Caribbean islands, 3 locations in the US, 2 in Canada, 1 in Germany, and 1 in the UK. The St. George's Harbour caters for several cruise lines. As a reference, a flight from Atlanta, Georgia (US) to Grenada is about $600 (USD) and a cruise from the US to the Eastern Caribbean is roughly $300 (USD). (Lowest cost average in 2021)

Where To Stay

Grenada offers many accommodations to stay out when arriving to the island. Some of these are apartments, guest house, homestay, hotel, resort, and villas. You choose what and where you wish to stay at! Given that tourism is an important asset to Grenada, you also choose the price range for where you plan on staying.

Where To Go

Grenada is one of the most intriguing and beautiful places to visit in the Caribbean. There are several things to do on this island, perhaps the best place to start would be St. George's -the capital city- where you can experience the vast colors of Grenadian culture, cuisine, and environment at this harbor town. Another destination would be the Grand Anse Beach where one can spend leisure time to relax and intake the natural beauty of this idyllic setting. One more place recommended would be the Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve where one can hike and explore the exotic wildlife and nature of Grenada.

What To Do

Given the prior locations, one has a vast list of options to do depending on what YOU may want to do. It could be a lazy do of basking under the sun at the beach or a rigirous exercise at a hiking trail through a rainforest. The 3 locations, however, are only a few of the things Grenada offers. Within the towns you may wish to try out local alcoholic beverages at River Antoine Rum Distillery, examine the crafts at Grenada's Market Square, or go on a spice/cocoa tour at Belmont Estate & The Grenada Chocolate Company.

You may also wish to sightsee other neighboring islands or more wildlife at La Sagesse Nature Center or go on a Spice Plantation Tour. And finally we couldn't forget the underwater adventure of scuba-diving to view the coral reefs and marine life. One may question whether there even is enough time do it all!

How Much

While I'm sure everyone wishes to knock-off everything on the To-Do-List for Grenada, it is unfortunate that there's only a limit on how much money and time can be spent according to everyone's budget. While there's no accurate way to give a proper budget of how much an individual will spend, an average can be given based on other tourist's experience.

A person may spend EC $641 (USD $237) on average per day. For one person only, that would make it EC $4,481 ($1,658) in one week, EC $8,694 ($3,317) in two weeks, and EC $19,210 ($7,108) in one month.

A couple may spend EC $8,694 ($3,317) in one week, EC $17,929 ($6,634) in two weeks, and EC $38,417 ($14,215) in one month.
